The rhinoplasty’s goal is to correct the imperfection of the nose with minimal incisions. It is important to work on photographic evidence in order to evaluate the final result with the surgeon. A good rhinoplasty corrects the imperfections but maintains one’s personality.
A rhinoplasty can also be done as a rejuvenating procedure. During the ageing process the tip of the nose has a tendency to slide downwards and tip surgery then has rejuvenating effect.
The incisions are made in the nostrils. The tip is refined while working on the cartilages, the osteocartilagineous hump can be removed. The incisions are closed with fine sutures. A nose packing and a splint are put in place
The most common demand is hump removal but in some cases it is sometimes possible, even necessary, to increase the nose size with grafts
Usually an overnight stay is sufficient and the return back home is possible next morning after the packing is removed.
Edema and bruising are not uncommon.
A few days later you are seen in consultation. The splint is removed. You now have a good idea of the new profile, but the edema is still present and gives the impression of a wide nose on a front view. During the following days this edema will fade and the nose acquires a finer look.
The sutures are resorbable and it is not necessary to remove them.
A delay of one to two months is preferable before any type of sport’s activity is resumed
